The Town of Stanley Planning Board will hold a public hearing on September 21, 2021, at 6:00 PM via Zoom and will be live-streamed on YouTube Town of Stanley Channel. The purpose of the hearing is to consider the following items:
- Review a Resolution to Relinquish the Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). The ETJ is the area adjacent to and beyond the municipal limits over which the Town has been granted an exercise of municipal governmental powers, including but not limited to the power to regulate development in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes, Section 160A-360. If the Town of Stanley relinquishes the ETJ, then the power to regulate development on properties relinquished will be under the discretion of Gaston County. Please go to Zoning/Planning documents to review a map showing areas to be relinquished in the ETJ.
The Town of Stanley Planning Board will then provide a recommendation to the Town Council. The Town Council will then hold a public hearing regarding this matter on October 4, 2021, at 6:00 PM at the Town Hall, located at 416 Hwy 27 S.
